Art from Morris Nitsun
Welcome to my first Open House exhibition in an elegant Victorian home and newly converted loft studio. There are examples of my previous painting but the main exhibition focus is on a new theme - Dolls: Are They Real? Follow the exhibition up the stairs of the house to the top-floor studio with views of Hove and beyond.

The image of the doll, inspired by antique dolls, evokes questions about real and unreal, doll and child, child and adult. Looking at the paintings, the dolls may communicate with you, even confront you. Who are you? How do you present yourself to the world?

I am a psychologist/ psychotherapist but also a committed artist who has had ten exhibitions in London and am keen now to share my work in Hove and Brighton.

2019 and Diana Laurie‘s vibrant, sexy nudes offer an even richer celebration of the female form in all its playful, powerful and tender glory. Her beautiful, fabulously-sized prints and luminous originals possess a cool, modern, punky edge. Her spatial understanding, delight in colour and decisive simplicity of line are a joy to behold. A sense of love and life and urgency comes from every image.

Encaustic Painting
In Roman Egypt, more than 2000 years ago, encaustic painting was used
to paint, on coffins, the portraits of the dead to go on their journey into the
afterlife. Because of its unique qualities it has, in recent decades, enjoyed
a revival. Encaustic medium is a combination of hot, usually bees wax,
mixed with oil paint. Painting with wax is an entirely different experience
to other mediums. Its flexibility, immediacy, the unpredictable way in
which the wax responds to heat, the chance and accidental effects are
both a gamble and a thrill.

Tony Owers runs workshops in hot wax painting over the third weekend
each month, suitable for beginners, students and practising artists, who
wish to learn an ancient medium used in a contemporary manner.

Workshop weekends run from 10.00 till 4.00 with all materials supplied
together with a sandwich lunch at a cost of £150.00 per person

Janet Stocker at The Secret Garden
This year, I have decided to take you through a journey of 'how to survive a break-up'.

You will see an array of paintings with a story for each one, depicting a silly yet surreal thought that you would have in your head while going through break-ups. You might find these thoughts familiar, or not - but we can all laugh at them and tell ourselves that we are stronger than the past.
